Payment is due at the time of service. I am an in-network provider with Aetna and I will provide you with a receipt that can be submitted to your insurance company for possible reimbursement if you are not an Aetna customer. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) requires insurance companies to cover lactation services without cost-sharing, but you should check with your insurance company to find out what its policy is. Having your pediatrician write an order for a lactation consultant before I visit can sometimes help with reimbursement. I can also offer a sliding scale or a payment plan. I exclusively breast fed my three children, one with a complete unilateral cleft lip and palate, which required 18 months of pumping my milk for her. When my first grandchild came along and I was guiding my daughter through the breastfeeding maze, I realized that my passion is to help nursing mothers achieve their breastfeeding goals.
To that end, I returned to college at the age of 56, taking the classes required to apply to sit for the IBCLE exam (since my BA in English didn't include the science education I needed). A 500+ hour hospital internship provided the hands-on experience I needed to take the exam. I became certified in 2014.
